On July 11th, 2022, Rebekah and Benjamin's story started with a digital rose (corny but true!) that Benjamin gave Rebekah on the dating app Hinge! After a few days texting Benjamin asked Rebekah if she would meet him at Little Woodrow's for "Big Ass Beer Monday," to watch the MLB Home Run Derby! If you know Benjamin's relationship with sports, you can easily understand how Rebekah learned to navigate dating in the midst of both professional and college sporting seasons, not to mention the emotional aspects of life with a die-hard sports fanatic! Thank goodness Rebekah's fandom is somewhat similar, just not as intense! Shout outs to Lubbock and Texas Tech University for putting Benjamin and Rebekah in the same obit!
After their first date, Benjamin and Rebekah began to hang out almost every day. A couple of weeks in, Rebekah's good friend, Molly, celebrated her 21st birthday and Rebekah invited Benjamin to join her. This was a big leap for Rebekah who did not often bring a guy around! That night, Rebekah's friends said they "loved" Benjamin and advised that she keep him around. Friends must know best because Benjamin asked Rebekah to be his girlfriend on July 30, 2022.
The weekend they first said I love you to each other was the weekend of September 30th, 2022. This weekend was the first weekend Rebekah brought Benjamin home to Mckinney. He got to know her family and family friends. He got to see where she came from and how she grew up. It was a fabulous weekend. The night they got home from that trip he said he loved her and said it back.
The first of Benjamin's friends that Rebekah met was Rayne Newby. The bride and groom spent the weekend at Rayne's house in Weatherford, Texas where she got to know a little bit more about Benjamin in his element with his friends! It's safe to say Rayne and Rebekah approved of each other! Rebekah first met Benjamin's family in December 2022, right after the holidays and Rebekah can admit that she was a nervous wreck beforehand. It's not surprising however that the visit went extremely well and she absolutely loves Benjamin's family. Since then, Rebekah and Benjamin have learned how to love, blend families, and protect one another through everything. They are best friends, and they wouldn't change their love for anything!
Rebekah and Benjamin call Lubbock, Texas home (for now) with their sweet dog, Bailey. Benjamin serves the constituents of US Congressional District 19 on staff for Congressman Arrington. Rebekah pursues her commitment to nurturing the safety and well-being of children as part of a great team at the Lubbock offices of Children's Protective Services. They cannot wait to begin their lives together as a new Schwartzberg family extension and they look forward to wherever their adventures might take them.
